Once again I have to say we can't be there on the first Sunday in August. Every first Sunday I celebrate the Holy Communion at Wellspring Retirement Center. I am the Chaplain and have been for the past 17 years. I really hate to miss being there, for you and Perryville are just "next door" to Harrodsburg where I was Vicar of the Episcopal Church, St. Philips Church. I say all of this because I pressed the Historical Society to put up an Historic Marker which said "the day after the Battle of Perryville, the Confederate general Leonidas Polk rode into Harrodsburg and found that the church had not been converted into a hospital due to the stained glass windows. For six years I donned a confederate uniform and conducted a prayer service in the church. I also spoke each year at Perryville about the prayer service.
I assume you are going there as two Blaine brothers fought against each other at that battle.
Wish we could be there. Our best to all!
