Shirley Martin reports that Perryville Under Fire: The Aftermath of Kentucky's Largest Civil War Battle (The History Press) (KY) [Paperback], by Stuart W. Sanders is an interesting read.  It is available at Amazon.com.

Brennan Grayson reports after his recent trip to Perryville that Robert D. Clay Blain was in the First Kentucky Cavalry, Company F.

Brennan Grayson provides the following commentary.

Robert Clay Blain, as most know, became Captain of Company F in the First Kentucky Cavalry.  Reviewing this thesis I learned that his Company was under a poor performing Cavalry leader Stoneman.  While I have found no references to Company F specifically, this is the most detailed treatment I have found of the particulars, tactical and practical, that would have been faced by RC Blain's Cavalry unit.

Maybe others will find it interesting. It also has several helpful charts that lay out, where, within the structure of the Army, RC's 1st Kenrtucky Cavalry Unit (and company) served.
